Louie Sibley of Rotherham was broken from half of his own and forged into the territory of the city with threat.
But then he was stopped by his tracks by a solid, fully judged intervention, as there was a lot during this run of five clean sheets of the past six games.
And from that moment in Vertu Trophy's bond last week, there was clear evidence that Tyreik Wright grasps his new life as a back of his wings.
We all know about the ability to advance Irish abilities, but the other side of the game was a challenge for players used to running almost every attacker of his career.
Do you feel that the defensive half of your role is more natural?
“No doubt,” Wright smiled. “Obviously, I didn't start as a defender, but I had to work on it, and I enjoy every bit of it.
“I've done well in the last few games, but there's still a lot to come from me. I'm trying to regain that confidence from when I was injured. I feel better and hopefully I'll continue. ”
A shoulder injury to Lewis Richards, who had a good shape, opened the door again for the lights. He is beginning to look like his former self after a permanent return to the volleyball parade.
With seven wins repeated in the final eight outings, the morale at camp is not high, and Wright can sense that belief.
“The boys were amazing. We're just stuck on Gaffer's game plan, and it's working for us and hopefully it will continue.
“In the past few months, we have shown that we can do both sides of the game, when we need to go back and sit back and protect the box.
“I think we're confident that we're home or away wherever we go. We have a big team and full trust in every player as well.

“Everyone needs to be at the top of the game, otherwise there are people waiting to seize a chance.
“I think it makes everyone want to do their best and keeps the standard high. The standard for training is high and you can see it in the game.”
There's no Letup as City Head is heading towards a third of six straight encounters a week when we host Accrington tomorrow. The eighth consecutive home wins lift them up to the location of auto-promotion.
Wright said:
“It's very close between all the top 7 teams. We need to focus on ourselves and get as many wins as possible.
