Based in the town between York and Harrogate, Johnsons' nursery provided items via ABG installation to a new block at Sheffield Hallam University in the city centre.
ABG installation also played a key role, the project involves delivery and installation of insulation, blue and green roofs, pavement, planters and soft landscapes.
The block is described as intended to “promote environmentally friendly architecture.” It is hoped that the Johnsons nursery factory supply will improve the air quality and biodiversity of the building.
Plant selection includes Stipa tenuissima, Clematis, Echinacea, Euphorbia, Kniphhofia, Salix, Salvia, Sempervivum, Stipa, Carex, and Calamagrostis, a variety of bulbs.
An important feature of the block is a roofed terrace designed to provide students and faculty with a place to relax, study and socialize in nature.
