Since then, his interest in the city and its theatre scene has remained. Last year he toured York Theatre Royal and sent his former castmate Berwick a message through his son.

Paul Cruise, CEO of York Theatre Royal, said: “We are absolutely delighted to hear the answer to the news that Gary Oldman is back at York Theatre Royal and appearing on Clap's final tape. We will join us for the show and take visitors into town from afar.
“It's a great honor to welcome Gary back to York and the stage where he began his career.”
Tickets are no longer on sale, but the theatre has also announced that they will release resale tickets every Friday for those hoping to place their hands in their last minute seats.
