The white van is believed to be kicked out after a conflict with a woman who needs assistance to walk.
The paramedics went to her aid and took her to the hospital, but she died within hours.
This afternoon, police announced that the man had been arrested in connection with it and is currently in police custody.
Pension recipients were wearing distinctive red coats and walking with the help of a walking aid when the crash occurred on Station Road in Filey at 9am Friday.
Police are suing footage of the incident and dashcam.
