Ollie Varey and Sue Smith took on the challenge to raise funds for Acorn Community Care, which supports adults with additional needs.
Ollie, a fitness instructor who works at the Derwent Swim and Fitness Center in Norton, cycled the land's end equivalent to John O'Groats on a fixed bike at the gym, and Sue, the swimming teacher, went to the pool to swim comparable distances on the British channel.
Both challenges were completed during February and have raised over £1,200 so far.
Ollie said: “We are extremely grateful for all your kind donations! There is still time to donate online or cash to the Go Fund. If you want to make a donation, donations of all sizes are welcome.
Acorn Community Care is based on an 8-acre farm and provides care and support to people with learning and disabilities through the wide range of services we provide.
The charity has around 20 people in farm-based day services where they can take part in numerous activities depending on what they want to do.
They also allow those living on such challenges to enjoy an independent life within their community by providing the custom support they need in their homes.
Alison Cashmore of Acorn Community Care said: Equal distances of the UK channels in the pool.
“We are honored with the patience and commitment needed to complete such a rigorous physical challenge and are extremely grateful for the generosity and generosity of everyone who contributed.
“We spread our sincere appreciation by donating, supporting or spreading the word to everyone who supported Ollie and Sue. Every contribution will help us continue to provide essential care and support to those who need it most.
“Another great thanks to Ollie and Sue. You are a true local hero.”
