Just 17 months after the opening, signs are placed in the windows of the Rio Brazilian Steakhouse on Bridge Street.
The closure notice states, “I regret to announce that Steakhouse York in Rio Brazil has been closed. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.”
The Bridge Street site, which opened in September 2023, was the seventh Rio branch in its portfolio. The restaurant's website says its Sunderland branch will soon open.
Customers are said to have all gift vouchers remain valid at Tomahawks Steak House, a sister restaurant to Lendal Cellars' Rio Brazilian Steak House.
Rodizio style Rio Brazilian Steakhouse, rated by TripAdvisor as York's sixth favorite restaurant, served an all-you-can-eat meal at the salad bar. Approximately 50 jobs were said to have been created when the restaurant opened.
