Soanes Poultry has asked Beverley Business Boston Renewables to provide a 1648-module field-mounted solar system, saving 156 tons of CO2 in its first year.
“We've been working hard to get the most out of our business,” said MD Ben Lee of Soanes Poultry.
“As they are uniquely located to face the rising sun and sunset, they offer clear advantages in exploiting solar energy in the early morning and late afternoon when the needs of the factory are the biggest.

“The latest investments demonstrate our commitment to sustainable chicken production, including biomass, wind turbines and ultra-energy-efficient refrigeration systems.
“The estimated annual yield on the 727,000kWh array is sufficient to power 269 domestic homes, and the CO2 emissions section from the solar array corresponds to planting 5,890 trees.”
Hudson said: “We were able to receive a committee from Soanes and were proud to help us make a valuable contribution to their sustainability program in this solar system.”
Soanes Poultry is a family-owned business that has been raising and preparing chicken since 1947. It sells chicken to Yorkshire and wholesaler butchers and independent retailers.
