Singer-songwriter Ben Avison worked with his father John Avison, a former ranger and assistant CEO of Yorkshire Dales National Park, to create memories at Pennine Way.
The song is part of an inspirational trail exhibition that highlights the legacy of the UK's first national trail.
The song is also included in a wide collection of songs that Ben and John celebrate nature and home, scheduled to be released later this year.
Ben said: “[Making memories in the Pennine's way]is not only inspired by the landscape, but also inspired by his relationship with his father.
“It's about the drawing of the 'home' and the memories we carry together.
“It celebrates Penin's way of thinking, whether you're a local or a visitor, as a place of reflection, inspiration and connection.”
Ben's connection to Penin Way is very personal.
He explained:
“My early memories are the towering cliffs of Malham Cove and Goldale, and the dark expanse of Malham Moore.
“Who are you the scenery you grow up to?”
The recordings and videos of John accompanying Ben also incorporate the sound of limestone litphones at the quarry-created Horton-in-Ribbledale station.
John said: “The song and video remind me of my passion for Dales and bring back the wonderful memories of sharing that passion with Ben.”
Ben's contributions to the Trail of Inspiration project also include a version of Pilgrim on the Pennine Way written by Pete Coe.
Both are available on YouTube for memories on Pennine Way and pilgrims on Pennine Way on https://youtu.be/zpvmzoebdva and on streaming platforms.
