Bradford Crown Court heard that 37-year-old Mohammed Mudasar, on New Cross Street in Bradford, relied on crime to fund Class A drug addiction when he robbed two homes last August.
In one case outlined by prosecutor Nadim Bashir, Mudasar smashes the windows of Madstone's house and forces it to do so, screaming, “Give me money, money, money!”
The incident gets caught up in CCTV, and he shows he is going home, where he confronts a man who was sleeping before he escapes with electrical equipment.
The robbery on August 3 was committed two days after Mudasar used bricks to smash the windows in the same house.
Ten days later, on August 13, police received a call saying a man had been assaulted at his address in Burch Lane and his cell phone had been photographed.
The victim later told police that he realized that someone would enter his house without being invited and stand up to them. He said the man had a knife.
In the resulting brawl, the victim suffered minor injuries to his hand, and Mudasar took the phone and ran away.
He was identified by the victim and said he had known Mudasar for several years.
In December 2023, Mudasar was arrested after police were found drunk at 4:50am in a car that was believed to be “driving in a loop.” He also had no insurance.
The court heard that Mudasar has been found 14 convicted of 29 crimes, including assault by Affray, Battery, robbery, emergency workers be hit, and assault that causes actual physical harm.
The court heard that Mudasar, who appeared via HMP Leeds video link, had been remanded for 231 days.
Mitigated Paul Canfield said Mudasar's lifestyle was “confusing” based on his use and drug addiction.
He said that after his mother's death, his life became “spiral,” and then he relied on Class A drugs, became addicted and became a crime to support his habits.
The court heard that he was not armed with a knife, but that a knife existed during the incident.
Canfield said: “The defendant did not bring a knife.
“Without making a mild claim… the knife suddenly realized that it was on the scene.
“Unfortunately, it was used to inflict minor injuries.”
Referring to the “Category of Violations,” Brian Cox KC imprisoned Mudasar for a total of 27 months, disqualified him from driving for three years, and imposed a five-year restraint order banning contact with injured people.
Recorder Cox told Mudasar:
