Community groups can bid up to £5,000 from the West Yorkshire Combined Authority Community Grant Scheme.
Money is directed towards certain active travel projects such as low-cost bicycle rental schemes, supply of walking and cycling equipment such as walking boots and bicycle locks, free or reduced-cost bicycle repairs, and services, providing information on local cycling and walking routes.
Successful past applicants include Bradford and the district of England, the age who founded social walking groups for over 55 years in Bradford and Keighley. Calderdale's invictus welfare has launched a one-on-one walk and talk session for young people. The LightWaves Community Trust in Wakefield provided free bike storage to people in the community. Music: Leeds set up a series of free music histories that roam the city.
The application is currently open to communities, voluntary and nonprofit organizations.
The application deadline is Monday, May 5th.
To support groups seeking funding, West Yorkshire Total Institutions will hold a series of online workshops starting Thursday, April 17th to refine ideas and develop application writing skills.
