I make it all turn around the world, for love – although it is disproved when you see the news – but when romance is forced upon us, it makes me cold.
And it's certainly forced on us on Valentine's Day.

If my husband booked us on one of us for tonight's meal, the Sparks would certainly fly – but not for the right reason. I imagine experiences at best include hearts, flowers, and love songs.
And with so much advertising, I'm lucky enough to get a table anyway. I didn't bother me. I rather grab fish and chips and eat at the house in front of Terry. My husband and I know.
From the restaurants to the romantic places to visit, the food we eat, and even what to wear, there are suggestions on how to spend Valentine's Day. When everyone you saw on Instagram is there, who wants to go to these so-called romantic hotspots?
A restaurant that cares for the “Smoothuwage” cliff foot top or riverside locations that certain influencers have gone to, or serves passion fruit specially flying from Paraguay. It's everything and nonsense.

Valentine's Day is probably strengthening people's love for each other, but it's become a big commercial turn-off.
Yes, I said turn off. February 14th is anything other than turn-on. If you are not informed of where to visit or where to eat to maximize your romance, we are presented with gift ideas on how to liven up a life of love.
Want to buy some of my beloved novelty boxer shorts with my name printed along with the lip logo and the word “it was here”? I'm afraid not. The only time I have contacted his boxers is when I stick them on the wash.

Certainly grown adults, especially over 50s – don't spend time worrying about such trivial things. For the record, I wear a t-shirt, my cardigan, stained cargo pants and slippers.
We are far from the time when we are excited about card ideas. In fact, the thing I've been most excited about Valentine's Day up to now was when I was about 14 years old and got some cards from people who were still unknown. At the time I put hope for someone from the future gorgeous Keith, but I probably knew in my heart that my friend was making a joke.
At the time, Valentine's Day cards and gifts were aimed at younger generations. My parents certainly did not mark the opportunity.
There were a few cards on the newspaper shelf, and perhaps a strange Teddy had caught his heart, but that was about it. You didn't throw all of this tats at you, and we weren't forced to raise about how to spend the day.
