This morning, one of the first running events of the year took place in York.
The crowd gathered in the cold Navesmear this morning to take part in the Winter Warmer 10K Challenge.
Hosted by National Running Group, The Fix and Winter Warmers, events will be held in multiple UK cities in support of homeless charity shelters.

Organizer Dave Cleansle explained the motivation behind the event, saying:
“We need support for everyone who may need it during the winter.”
Runners prepared for an event at Knavesmire (Image: Dylan Connell) Starting at the half marathon at 9am, the winter warmer consisting of three races, the 5k, 10k and half marathon, totalling just under 600 people.
The 5 and 10K race runners won the starting gun around 10am with Kings Leifers, the fastest 5K runner, and completed the race at 11:05pm.
The 10K was acquired by Ben Wright in just 37 minutes, while Johnny Brownridge completed the half marathon in just 1 hour and 26 minutes.
