The group's three Albusti Equi World Dubai Standard Stakes have been confirmed as a feature race for the Premier Race Day on Saturday, June 28th (will be aired on ITV).
York's new race has a £100,000 wallet, making it one of 42 races, and currently rewards at least six figure connections over the 18-day season.
The Seven Furlong Race will serve as a development route to York City Stakes, one of York's latest group, on the final day of the Ebor Festival (details below).
The Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Criterion offers a “free” connection with Sky Bet City of York Stakes.
Malih Al Basti, owner and founder of Al Basti Equiworld Dubai, said:
After the race there will be a concert from Ollie Mars.
In other York Race Course News, the venue shares that the Skybet City of York Stakes will be the fourth Group 1 contest to be held at Navesmear.
This upgrade follows the European Patterns Commission's annual meeting.
The “Newly Promoted Race” will offer a £600,000 prize money on the final day of the Sky Bet Ebor Festival on Saturday, August 23rd, with its first run at the highest level.
According to a spokesperson, it is the first all-age, seven-furlong race to have Group 1 status in the UK and Ireland. That timing allows runners to compete at the Prix Delaflet at the same distance in early October.
Speaking about the upgrade, York Race Committee Chairman Bridget Guerin said:
“We are grateful for the European Pattern Commission and all the connections we have supported the race and helped us achieve this new status.
“That means racing fans are looking forward to group one races in all four days of the Sky Bet Ebor Festival, featuring so many great races, including the Sky Bet Ebor itself.”
